Conservatory Options

Once you've decided on the design and material of your conservatory, you will probably be presented with a range of options to modify the basic design to suit your needs. Your supplier should outline the options that are available to you with the advantages of each one, but here is just a rough guide of what you can expect.

Window Glazing

P Shape Conservatory

As standard the vast majority of conservatories are supplied with double glazed windows and doors.

There are several types of specialist glass available for conservatories such as self-cleaning glass and energy-efficient glass which your supplier should be able to provide.

Roof Material

Polycarbonate is the preferred choice for conservatories, it's also stronger and lighter than glass. You should aim have at least triple walled polycarbonate, which can be supplied as either clear or tinted, depending on the position of your conservatory whether it will get too much sun or not enough light. You may have the option for a double glazed roof, although this will considerably increase the price.

Panel Options

The basic panel types will be a choice between full height with moulded panels in the lower sections, full height glass or dwarf wall panels.

On top of that you should be able to choose to have fanlights which can sometimes be supplied with a patterned glass design for decorative effect.

Other options

You will probably be able to specify the position of the doors, because it should be just a case of swapping panels around. For ventilation your supplier should advise you on the number of opening windows and fanlights (if applicable) you will need, and whether you should consider roof vents.
