DIY or Supply and Fit?

There are actually three options for the type of installation you decide to opt for, they are supply only and a DIY installation, supply only with a builder/contractor assembling the conservatory or a supply and fit installation.

Supply only and a DIY installation

This choice will mean that you can save a lot of money. If you aren't confident about preparing the base and building a dwarf wall then you can have a builder do this part, leaving you to assemble the conservatory.

Edwardian Conservatory

There are some very good conservatory kits available today, so you don't have to be a DIY expert, but just willing to do some hard work yourself.

Before you buy, you could request to see a copy of the assembly instructions to make sure you feel confident about doing-it-yourself.

Most conservatory installations will require two people, even if the other person is only a spare pair of hands, it does help. If this is your choice then at least you will be responsible for the finished product, and you will feel very proud of your work.

Supply only with a contracted assembly

This still gives you an opportunity to save money and you wont have to do the work yourself, so you'll get the best of both worlds. You can get somebody to do the whole job who specialises in installing conservatories, or split the job and contract a few different tradesmen to do different bits. You will need to do a bit more planning and organising this way which could prove to be quite time consuming.

Supply and fit

This option is likely to be the most expensive and (hopefully) the least stressful. The responsibility of a professional installation is the with supplier, so if anything should go wrong then it's down to them.

UPVC Conservatory Even though your getting a complete job, a point to note is that if you decide to go for the supply and fit installation, you will be required to prepare the area for the conservatory which includes doing the base and building the dwarf wall (if needed).
